Cruiser Cruiser compresses pixelmovement into black.

Cruiser begins with a stock photograph of the marble quarries of Carrara.
Acquired through an image archive, the photograph becomes material rather than reference. Its pixels, cuts and compressed surfaces are translated into painting through processes of enlargement, reduction and displacement.
The works do not depict Carrara. They investigate how an industrial image can be transformed into a painted structure, where geological matter reappears as surface, edge and gesture.
